THE SOVEREIGNTY OF GOD

Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end. Isaiah 9:7 NIV
Knowing God's kingdom will be an eternal kingdom, His Son will be an absolute monarch, and this kingdom will never be conquered - these truths are powerful because what we see now is polar opposite to the various kingdoms, governments, and monarchies in our present day.

We see land grabs, fighting, civil wars, death, power struggles, needless coups and more. All for the sake of power and control. This is the fallout for those seeking control - for those needing to have everything under control - his/her control.
If this is a tendency of yours, let God work it out of you and let Him have control (it takes one to know one, if you know what I mean).
Having taught Revelation and now in the book of Daniel, teaching about end times, monarchies, control and power, and governments with lack of peace - this verse, THIS verse, gives me great hope and comfort. I need not worry who is in control now, let alone in the future - it is God and it always has been and always will be.
This is the definition of Sovereign. He is sovereign and He has it all in control. That is the macro perspective. But what about the micro - our individual lives?
How can I be certain He cares, is in control and wants what's best for me?

Bottom line: it takes faith. Yes, honest-to-goodness faith. We could be like Zechariah in the story of Jesus's first Advent and question the surety of Gabriel's words. He doubted, and had the side effects from that doubt - muteness until his son was born. (See Luke 1:5-25)
Or we could be like Mary who humbly asked how it could be possible since she was a virgin - an innocent question from a young woman, yet she was asking in humility and with a sense of willingness to go along with God's plan. God called her favored,

and she indeed had the favor of the Lord to house the Son of God. (See Luke 1:26-56)
It boils down to this: do I believe what the Bible says all the way through or do I pick and choose the verses which I like and make sense to me? Do I skip over convicting verses, ones which require something of me, and the ones which apply to others but have never seemed to apply to me - promises, for example.
Folks, either we believe all the Bible, or we don't. Simple as that.
May we truly seek Him this day, this week, this month, this year to know Him more and purpose in our hearts to finally let go and let God.
PRAYER
Father God, I do want You to have complete control of my life because when I try, it becomes complicated, messy, anything but peaceful. But with You at the helm (and me being behind You), it's peaceful, sure and steadfast in the midst of it all. My circumstances have not changed, but my perspective and obedience has. And I thank You.
